The latest twist in a case that has gripped international audiences saw the President offer the parents of a dead teenager the chance to meet the accused.

They were surprised to find out that Sacoolas was waiting in a room next door, while members of the White House press corps were waiting in another room, but Charles said they didn't want to be"railroaded" into a circus, or a meeting they were"not prepared for." White House expectations that Dunn’s parents would meet with Sacoolas were a “gargantuan miscalculation,” said Mark Stephens, a lawyer advising Charles and Dunn. He called Sacoolas a"fugitive from justice."
