President Donald Trump is expected to stop by the RNCConvention site during a trip to North Carolina on Monday
President Donald Trump is expected to stop by the Republican National Convention site during a trip to North Carolina on Monday, according to a Republican close to the Trump campaign.
The president also plans to make an appearance on each of the four days of the convention, the Republican said, which will take place Aug. 24-27.Although Trump’s schedule could still change, the news of his potential visit to the convention’s venue on its first day comes as little else is known about Republicans’ efforts to stage the high-profile nominating event.
Trump’s visit next Monday to the convention’s host city of Charlotte would come on a trip to Mills River, N.C., where he will participate in a pair of events highlighting the administration’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program, according to a White House official. The Covid-19 election is here and both parties are reimagining their conventions. This week, it's the Democrats' turn. Check outTrump will be accompanied by his daughter, Ivanka Trump, a senior adviser to the president.
The trip will be Trump’s 11th time traveling to North Carolina, a swing state he won by 3.8 percentage points in 2016. Recent polling, however, shows him trailing there to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Biden formally accepted his party’s nomination Thursday on the final night of the Democrats’ four-day virtual convention, which was initially set to be based out of Milwaukee.
