Donald Trump Jr. praises poll on Instagram that shows majority of Americans think Russia probe was politically motivated. But people also believe Trump campaign advisers acted improperly.
In his latest Instagram post, the president’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. pushed once again a recent poll by CBS showing that a majority of Americans now believe the Mueller investigation was politically motivated.
“Wow. Shocked. People believe the Russia hoax was politically motivated,” Trump Jr. wrote on Instagram to his 1.7 million followers on Tuesday alongside an image of him tweeting out a story about the CBS poll a few days ago. Mueller was tasked by the Department of Justice with investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. One strand of that investigation explored suspicions of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government to undermine the election.
The summary also noted that Mueller did not conclude Trump committed any crimes related to obstruction of justice, though it did not exonerate the president either. Trump is accused by his critics of interfering in the Russia investigation to impede it. But 60 percent of Americans said it is either very or somewhat likely that senior Trump advisers had improper dealings with Russia before the president was sworn in. That compares with 36 percent who said it was not very or not at all likely.
