Trump's lawyers filed to have the case moved from state court on May 4, saying that"the case involves important federal questions since the indictment charges President Trump for conduct committed while he was president of the United States.
The case is scheduled to begin early next year, with Trump and Bragg's office being ordered to pick a trial date last week. Bragg's case against Trump in New York is one of many against the former president. On Tuesday, Trump was ordered to pay E. Jean Carroll $5 million in damages after a jury unanimously found him responsible for sexual abuse and defamation after she accused him of raping her in New York in the mid-1990s.
