President Trump holds coronavirus briefing a day after Senate Republicans unveil $1 trillion pandemic aid package.
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump returned to the briefing room Tuesday as talks over the latest coronavirus economic rescue package continue on Capitol Hill.Monday, kicking off negotiations with Democrats to craft a bill addressing the economic fallout wrought by the pandemic.
"With this new agreement, my administration is using the Defense Production Act to provide a $765 million loan to support the launch of Kodak Pharmaceuticals," Trump told reporters."It's a breakthrough in bringing pharmaceutical manufacturing back to the United States." The president said once Kodak Pharmaceuticals is fully operational, it will produce as much as 25% of all active ingredients needed to make generic drugs in the U.S.
Asked if both sides were any closer to a stimulus deal following the meeting, Meadows told reporters:"I don't know if I would characterize it as getting closer."
