President Trump on Wednesday said his administration will challenge “all the subpoenas” sent his way by congressional Democrats
Mueller’s 448-page report provided new details about the 22-month probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The special counsel said there was not enough evidence to show that the Trump campaign conspired with the Kremlin but added that the president’s campaign was aware of Russian activities and knew it would benefit from them.
The report also did not take a stance on whether Trump obstructed justice but said Congress has the authority to conduct its own investigation of the president’s actions. Republicans used the Russia findings to argue Trump was cleared of any wrongdoing, even though Mueller said he was not exonerating the president on the obstruction issue. Democrats, meanwhile, said they would continue their congressional probes into the president, his administration and his businesses, which some lawmakers said could lead to impeachment.
