The cult-favorite animated series tucaandbertie will be returning for a second season on adultswim after being abruptly canceled by Netflix last year.
Tuca and Bertie are completely besotted with each other, but their BFF-ship comes with reservations: the H.J. Blackham quote "We refuse to be each other" comes to mind, as the two establish their respective identities primarily from occupying the space that the other doesn't. Tuca and Bertie dynamic is one that is common among friends so close they're almost like sisters—when one is gregarious, the other is correspondingly shy, and so on—and it works, until it doesn't.
As the first season goes on, Tuca feels increasingly judged by Bertie for her freewheeling nature, while Bertie feels foolish for playing it safe.
