Kirsty Hawes spent over a grand on a dream holiday to Mallorca but was turned away at the airport thanks to a Brexit rule regarding passports
A woman was turned away from a holiday to Mallorca due to a little-known rule about EU passport dates.
She does admit it was in the fine print of the confirmation email, but she did not see it prior to travelling. Kirsty has also revealed she won't be getting a refund for her holiday due to the mistake. “This was the one thing I was looking forward to all year.” Kirsty was looking forward to the trip abroad following a break-up and several family and friends passing away.
Kirsty's passport was 10 years and a day over the issue date, but the expiry date wasn't for another seven months. Her other option was to get a temporary travel document but the next appointment in London was two weeks away. However, she was told that it has to be issued under the lead passenger. She was then told over the phone that she can't have a refund as the information on passport validation was included in the booking email.
