An old ground floor apartment in the village has been turned into two units for businesses
Residents in East Leake have shared their thoughts on two new businesses joining the village in a converted apartment. Some say a GP surgery, restaurant or pub would have been preferred for the area - but others are happy.
Co-owner of Smiths Property Experts, Lucinda Smith, said: "We are very excited to launch our new business here. East Leake is a lovely village with a vibrant community."We are delighted to join a host of other like-minded independent businesses. The location is perfect for access to the areas we cover throughout Leicestershire and south Nottinghamshire."
Plenty of villagers are pleased to see the two independent businesses join the high street. But East Leake resident Martin Johnson, 51, said: "It would be nice to have some more different businesses as these are the same sort we already have. Retired Julie Cooper, 70, said: "I've noticed the estate agents has opened. I don't know about that as there are already two here, but it's independent so perhaps that makes a difference as it's not just another chain.
