Two people died in a fiery highway crash in D.C., police said.

Two people were killed Tuesday evening in a fiery car crash in the District on the Southeast Freeway, the D.C. police said. The two were apparently in one of the cars in the crash, which occurred about 6:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, also known as Interstate 695, near the exit for the 11th Street Bridge, said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.
