“The crews did an exceptional job and were very proud of the work they did,” Battalion Chief Anthony Sanders said.

OAKLAND — Two men were hospitalized with serious injuries after falling roughly 75 feet off a roof, down a hillside and into a gulch, before being rescued by Oakland Fire Department crews, officials said.

Around 8:30 a.m., two men who were working on the roof of a home in the 7100 block of Thorndale Drive in the Oakland Hills fell from the roof down a sloping hillside, hitting a patio railing on the way down. After landing in the gulch, the men called 911 for help. The first firefighter crews to arrive called for a special “heavy rescue” team, and provided medical care to the two men, according to Battalion Chief Anthony Sanders of the Oakland Fire Department.

Just after 8AM, E6, E24, E1, T5, R1, & B4 responded to an incident where 2 workers fell 75 feet from a roof located in the 7100 block of Thorndale Dr. A technical hillside rescue was successfully executed. Both injured patients were transported to a local hospital. Great work.
