The 2015 Broadway musical comedy is about a theatrical duo competing against William Shakespeare in 1590s England
Cameron Bond has had a busy national career as a musical theater actor, performing in two Broadway shows, two off-Broadway shows and two national tours.
Born in San Diego and raised in Rancho Peñasquitos, Bond said he’s excited to be returning to his hometown for his first stage appearance since the pandemic began. Bond stars in Moonlight Stage Productions’ “Something Rotten!” as Nick Bottom, a failed playwright who runs a small theater troupe with his brother, Nigel, in 1590s England, where the vain, rock star-like William Shakespeare is London’s toast of the town. But with advice from the nutty London soothsayer Nostradamus, Nick and Nigel aim to best the Bard at the box office by penning the world’s first musical.
Bond grew up in an artistic family. His parents met playing costumed characters at Disneyland, his grandmother was an opera singer and his grandfather was a film actor. But as much as Bond loved acting, he chose to study business in college. While launching his stage career in Los Angeles after college, he started working as a line and narrative producer, which has continued since he moved to New York.
