Two Gloucester Township police officers suffered minor injuries when a man who threw a bottle at a car fled to a nearby gas station and then resisted arrest, authorities said. The 36-year-old man threw the bottle at a passing motorist near the La Cascata townhomes around 8:30 a.m. on Friday,The driver then called the cops, who spotted the man walking on Blackwood Clementon Road toward a Sunoco gas station, police said. He refused officers’ orders to stop, walked into the station’s convenience store and tried to run behind the cash register area, officials said.
When police tried to take him into custody, he began wrestling with them. The Clementon resident was finally arrested when backup units arrived, police said. The two injured officers were treated at the scene. Police charged the man with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. He was issued a summons and then released with a court date.
