The vineyards Flowers farms for its Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays are over on the Sonoma Coast in some of the most remote territory in the region. The coastal influence and the unique soil types in this relatively inaccessible area give these wines their character. They are pristine expressions of their fruit, somewhat restrained by California standards, though not austere — exuberant, in fact, fruit-driven with ballast from mineral and earth tones.and has helmed winemaking here since 2012.
Because these vineyards are difficult to get to, the winery opened a beautiful new tasting room in Healdsburg just last year. Once the pandemic lockdown has lifted, I plan to hightail it back to House of Flowers.Kim Westerman
