Senator Romney urges FAA to temporarily ground Boeing 737 Max 8

WASHINGTON - Republican U.S. Senator Mitt Romney on Tuesday called on the Federal Aviation Administration to follow several other countries and temporarily ground Boeing’s 737 Max 8, days after the aircraft crashed in Ethiopia and killed everyone onboard.

“Out of an abundance of caution for the flying public, the should ground the 737 MAX 8 until we investigate the causes of recent crashes and ensure the plane’s airworthiness,” Romney said in a tweet. Romney joins similar calls from fellow senators, Democrats Richard Blumenthal and Diane Feinstein. Boeing and the FAA had no immediate comment on Romney’s statement.
