Incarnate Word has selected Central Michigan assistant Shane Heirman as its next men's basketball coach, according to multiple reports Wednesday.

Incarnate Word has tabbed Central Michigan assistant Shane Heirman as its next men’s basketball coach, a source confirmed Wednesday.
During his tenure at DePaul, the Blue Demons won Big East tournament games in back-to-back seasons for the first time in 2020 and 2021. The team also advanced to the CBI final in 2019 to mark the program’s first postseason appearance since 2007. A native of the Chicago area who played at Tulsa, Heirman has coached a group of NBA players that includes the Memphis Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson and the Golden State Warriors’ Jordan Poole.
Cunningham still had three years remaining on a contract extension signed prior to the 2021-22 season, according to contract provisions provided to the Express-News.
