Furious SNP ministers have been told to draw up lists of public buildings to be offered a free picture of the monarch as part of an £8million scheme to celebrate his reign.
Plans to hang a portrait of King Charles in every Scottish school and nursery can be revealed by the Sunday Mail.
Critics have likened the scheme to North Korea when schools display pictures of dictator Kim Jong-un. “They want to hang a picture of one of the wealthiest men in the country over the heads of children in the poorest communities in Scotland. We will not have any part of it. It is ironic that this plan comes from the same Tories who are complaining about the civil service working on independence.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are currently holidaying at Balmoral where they are expected to be joined by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty.The Metropolitan police came under fire last week after it discontinued its investigation into cash-for-honours allegation involving the King’s charity, the Prince’s Foundation.
