MoD sources deny reports that US blocked request for their use, as Kyiv's audacious Kursk offensive continues
It comes after President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested Britain’s leadership on Ukraine has “slowed down recently”, as Ukraine continues its audacious operation in theUK defence sources dismissed reports over the weekend that suggested the US has delayed permission for Kyiv to use the British-donated long-range missiles to strike targets inside Russia, following a request from Keir Starmer to President Joe Biden to approve the move.
President Zelensky said in a video message: “Throughout this war, we’ve seen the UK demonstrate true leadership—in arms, politics, and support for Ukrainian society. This has saved thousands of lives, reflecting the strength of the UK. He added that the UK “must allow” the use of Storm Shadow missiles inside Russian territory: “The war is in the balance and its time for Starmer to show he has the strategic nouse to be an important global leader.”
The 1,300kg cruise missile has a range exceeding 155 miles and is designed to evade detection by flying low at speeds of more than 600mph after being launched., from a range of nations.
