Brits are being turned away by airlines due to a strict passport expiry rule. Could your holiday be effected?
UK holidaymakers are facing travel turmoil, as a travel expert claims around 200 people a day being knocked back from their flights due to a strict passport validity rule.
To gain entry into the EU/Schengen Area, your passport must not only be less than ten years old but also needs to be valid for at least three months after you plan to leave. However, if you are due to travel on January 1 and your passport is set to expire on March 31, you will need to get a new passport before you travel, reports The Mirror.
"But if you're travelling later, maybe in the May bank holidays or the summer holidays then you've got time on your side and just to stress... It's only the EU that cares about the issue date, if you're going to America, Australia, or Tunisia they say your passport's valid up to and including the expiry date,"
