Watch: A 'heartless' attack - Sky News correspondent at site of destroyed shopping centre

Ukraine's foreign minister has hit back at Russia's reaction to the shopping centre strike in Kremenchuk, which killed at least 18 people. "Ordinary Russians cheer on social media. Russian diplomats and officials spread insane conspiracy theories, denying that the strike even happened. It is important to point out here that Russians are starved of accurate information on the war - or the"special military operation" as it is reported there.

Former chief of the general staff General Lord Richard Dannatt has appeared on Sky News to offer his analysis of the war in Ukraine. Discussing the news that NATO will mobilise more rapid reaction troops, he said it was a"very sensible and progressive move". It is understood that the number of British soldiers currently available could be significantly reduced from around 82,000 to 72,000, which Lord Dannatt described as"quite ridiculous".

Eight people, including one child, have died after Russian troops"opened fire" on a crowd of locals, according to a Ukrainian official. The Luhansk region, in eastern Ukraine, has come under a barrage of attacks since Russia launched its invasion back in February. He listed a number of examples including the strike on a mall in Kremenchuk yesterday and another on a maternity hospital in Mariupol, which happened earlier in the war.

"They have a lot of volunteers, young men and women who are volunteering to defend their homeland, as I hope people here would [if] faced with a similar threat. It should be noted that Russia has continually denied targeting civilians during its war in Ukraine. Ukrainian State Emergency Service firefighters have been working to take away debris from the shopping centre, which has been reduced to piles of tangled metal and rubble. Russia has launched 'unusually intense waves of strikes' using long-range missiles, says UK MoD

However, over 24-26 June, Russia used long-range missiles to launch a series of violent attacks across the country.
