This process takes hundreds of thousands of years in nature. Undo, which is based in London but has a scientific team in Scotland where it is running trials, accelerates it by taking a powdered form of the rock and spreading it over a greater surface area. The mining byproduct is otherwise sat in piles, where much of it doesn't have access to the atmospheric CO2 it needs to break down.
Undo monitors its process through sensors, soil sampling, and soil cores. A peer-reviewed paper on the results of the first year of its Scottish trials is expected in the final quarter of this year.
