Trustee Theo Brooks, who led the meeting due to Mayor Joesph Roudez’s absence, announced the resignation of Nina Fain, special counsel in the lawsuit against Aqua Illinois.

During a special meeting Tuesday, the University Park Village Board voted to terminate special counsel Nina Fain and lobbyist Frank Bass.

Trustee Theo Brooks, who was appointed board chair due to Mayor Joesph Roudez’s absence, announced the resignation of Nina Fain, who was special counsel for the village in the ongoing lawsuit against Aqua Illinois for allegedly not providing safe drinking water to University Park.“She resigned. She left a beautiful letter and I’m going to give her a good response because her and I always had a good relationship,” Brooks said.

Brooks also said he voted to terminate Bass because of his push for the development board. When he learned about the bill recently, Brooks said he was “blindsided” by it.“I felt he did not operate in the best interest of the village,” Brooks said.Village attorney Nina Fain gives an update July 25, 2023, to University Park trustees and residents about free water testing Aqua Illinois will provide to residents and the pending litigation against the company.
