A quaint fishing village, often confused with one of the UK's most popular seaside destinations, has been crowned the nation's most picturesque coastal town. New Quay, not to be mixed up with Newquay in Cornwall, is a Welsh seaside hamlet steeped in history and boasts an 'unspoilt' coastline and wildlife that's hard to come by elsewhere in the UK.
New Quay is hailed for its vibrant wildlife, presenting nature enthusiasts with the rare chance to witness bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic grey seals, harbour porpoises, along with birds like peregrine falcons, kestrels, and choughs in their natural milieu. Moreover, divergent stretches spanning over 22 miles of coastline have been preserved as a Maritime Heritage Coast since the 1990s, safeguarding this pristine ecological niche for future generations.
Steve, who has been a local of 45 years, added that: "There are some fascinating old buildings that make up the village, pretty cottages.
