Winter weather advisories are in effect for all 21 counties in N.J. with a messy morning commute expected Friday.
is expected to hit New Jersey early Friday with as much as 6 inches of snow, though most of the state is likely to see around 4 inches by the start of the morning commute.
Forecasters also say the state could be lashed by wind gusts of up to 35 mph through late Friday morning, which would contribute to blowing snow and make for hazardous road conditions.also expressed an additional concern - thunder snow. Snowfall amounts should total 1 to 3 inches in coastal areas of Atlantic, Ocean and Cape May counties.The National Weather Service forecast for a winter storm expected to hit early Friday now calls for widespread areas of 4 to 6 inches with higher amounts possible across a narrow band south and east of I-95. Snow should start around 1 a.m. and taper off during the morning rush hour.
As we wait for the snow, Thursday will be sunny with light winds and highs in the mid 30s to about 40.
