After a tumultuous offseason surrounding ex-coach Jovan Vavic, new USC men's water polo coach Marko Pintaric has the Trojans on the verge of a 15th consecutive appearance in the NCAA title game.

Former USC men’s and women’s water polo coach Jovan Vavic, who in March was fired by the school over his alleged role in the college admissions scandal, has sold his home in Ranchos Palos Verdes for $2.45 million.

For Pintaric, 43, who lost the interim tag three weeks before the season opener when he was also put in charge of USC’s women’s team, the road back to the NCAA tournament has tested both his stamina and his organizational abilities.Advertisement “We just needed time as a team to adjust and to find ourselves,” Pintaric said. “Where we would be in, let’s say, the spring, beginning of the summer, we were not there in August or September.”UCI’s Andy Coffman tries to maintain control of the ball against USC’s Marko Pintaric. USC won the match 10-7 was held at a Irvine High School on Oct 24, 1998. Pintaric was a member of the 1998 national championship team.

“What our athletes went through, it’s unprecedented and this will be really, for them to prove to everybody that, you know, they’re there when it counts most.”
