The GTR programme was announced by Morgan Motor Company in 2021 after the discovery of 9 unused V8 ‘Aero’ platforms. These 9 cars are the final and ultimate iteration of over 50 years of Morgan Plus 8 and each car has been specified and crafted in conjunction with the factory Special Projects team.
Here we have Plus 8 GTR number 3 of 9, specified to commemorate Morgan’s first aluminium-platform vehicle ‘Big Blue’, the Plus 8 GT racecar of the 1990s. The GTR-specific bodywork is painted in Porsche Sapphire Blue Metallic with the all-aluminium, handcrafted body kit finished in Sophisto Grey; the car sits on Silver 18-inch ‘Super Touring’ wheels.
The interior is trimmed in box-pattern Soft-Grain Ivory leather and complimented with Anthracite Grey Box Weave carpet. The dashboard consists of a full-width Raven Wood fascia with Sophisto Grey infills and GTR dials. Not only is the GTR the culmination of the V8 Morgan, it is also the most powerful Morgan production car ever made. Chassis #003’s power is transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle-shift option.
This is the only example out of the 9 GTRs built that will be offered to the open market, brand-new and directly from the factory.
