At some point during officers’ interactions with the woman, they shot her, the release states. Despite initial reports, it’s unclear if the woman was in fact armed, and if so, whether she threatened officers with the weapon.
At about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Iron County sheriff’s deputies and Enoch City police responded to a location near the Three Peaks recreation area on a report of a suspicious person with a gun.
At about 4500 West and 4800 North, northwest of Cedar City, officers found a woman sitting in a vehicle and told her to exit the car. She was “noncompliant” with their commands, the release states. The Iron, Garfield, Beaver Critical Incident Task Force responded to the scene and is investigating the shooting.Sunday’s shooting marked the third police shooting in Utah so far this year, according to a database maintained by The Salt Lake Tribune.
