With each season, Texas’ DeMarvion Overshown gets closer to the line of scrimmage, moving from safety to linebacker to a linebacker with the skills to be a disruptive force rushing the QB.AUSTIN — Fifth-year senior DeMarvion Overshown has been moving closer to the line of scrimmage ever since he arrived at Texas in 2018.
That’s the bulk of the reason Overshown returned for a fifth season, to hone his skills, expand his game and become a more attractive draftee. And part of that self-improvement includes learning how to play off the edge as a pass rusher. But Overshown went through this full offseason of winter conditioning and spring workouts without a hitch. And since the coronavirus pandemic wiped out the 2020 offseason, this was essentially the fifth-year senior’s first time getting to train at linebacker without limitations.
“Really this year just being able to move around, it's gonna put a lot of pressure on teams,” Overshown said. “And we added a lot of playmakers to the defense, a lot of guys coming along. It's not only going to help the offense scheme away from me, but now they gotta deal with the other 10 players on the field as well. You can expect me to be doing everything on defense.”
