Veterans Day falls on a Saturday this year, but there are a host of ceremonies and events honoring members of the military planned throughout the month.

Below, in chronological order, is a list of some of the notable observances scheduled in the coming days:at 2 p.m. Nov. 5. Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Pennsylvania Commander, David “Spike” Gyger, will deliver the keynote address. Parking will be at MSC Industrial Supply Company, 100 MSC Drive, Jonestown. A shuttle bus will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather.
A Veterans Day breakfast will be held from 8-10 a.m. Nov. 9 at the AFSCME Conference Center, 150 S. 43rd St., Harrisburg. State Reps., D-Dauphin/Cumberland, will be in attendance. Local veterans who would like to attend should fill out the online form on their state representatives’ website to RSVP.will take place at 10 a.m. Nov. 10 at John Harris Campus in Harrisburg. There will also be food trucks, a DJ and various activities provided by different military services.
A free Veterans Day Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at Veterans Honor Park of Lancaster County, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz. Vietnam War refugee Lei Nhung Williams and Four-Star United States Air Force General William T. “Tom” Hobbins, Lancaster County’s highest-ranking military officer, will be the guest speakers.will take place at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at The Marietta Community House, 264 W. Market St., Marietta. The event will include musical performances.
