While some businesses in the Chicago, like the post office are closed on Veterans Day, others are open and offering free meals and deals, and many areas are holding ceremonies to honor the day’s 103rd observance.
According to the city, The Doughboy sculpture, originally placed in Garfield Park, was restored and installed in Soldier Field as part of the stadium’s renovation.
Also in the city on Friday, Brookfield Zoo will host a Veterans Day Ceremony. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., military memorabilia and vehicles will be on display. Guests can also enjoy live music, a performance of the National Anthem and more.The Pritzker Military Museum and Library, at 104 S. Michigan Ave. will also offer free admission.
