The Maxus MIFA 9 is a Chinese-built three-row electric minivan that we got the chance to test in Germany.The Maxus 9 is propelled by a single 241-hp motor turning the front axle and powered by a battery pack with a claimed 90 kilowatt-hours of capacity.Multiple seating options are available. In Europe the MIFA 9 is sold with individual airline-style seats in the second row and a three-seat bench for the third row.
Maxus is a commercial brand belonging to SAIC Motor, the former Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, the largest auto company in China. The Maxus name was acquired from a U.K.-based van manufacturer, LDV, that went bankrupt in 2008.European-market versions of the MIFA 9 get a single 12.3-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard, as well as a digital gauge cluster, but higher-spec versions in China have twin displays side by side.
