Participants are asked to 'dress the part'
Fans of the late Vivienne Westwood will soon be able to walk in the fashion icon’s footsteps. A walking tour of the designer’s hometown of Glossop is happening later this month.
Westwood, who was among the pioneers of the punk scene, and who rose to create a fashion empire, was born in nearby Tintwhistle and went to school in Glossop. She died in December last year, aged 81.Claire Tymon who heads up Glossop Creates said: “Vivienne was a radical and an activist who used her talent as a fashion designer to make statements about what was important to her and the world.
“Small town doesn't mean small ambition. This is the motto of our arts organisation Local, which runs Glossop Creates and aims to make places as interesting, eclectic and accessible as possible through arts and culture.”
