The issue itself stems from one of VW’s suppliers, who provided potentially deformed strut mounts to the production facility. This deformity has the potential to prevent the attached hardware from receiving a proper amount of torque during installation. That’s obviously a concern from a safety perspective, as nobody wants their suspension coming apart on them.
While no automakers want to be at the center of these situations, small recalls like these are always a great reminder to take any safety concerns you might have about your vehicle seriously.
