Voters headed to the polls on Saturday for the first day of early voting in Monroe County.
According to the Monroe County Board of Elections, 2,770 voters visited 13 polling sites across the county to make their voices heard.
"I like the way things are going in the County and so it was important for me to get out there and support that," said David Ryder, a Brighton resident.Democratic incumbent Adam Bello and his Republican challenger Mark Assini were out campaigning Saturday to encourage supporters to get out and vote. “It’s critical for people to vote especially in local election years," said Bello. "I know turnout’s always higher in presidential years. It’s higher in gubernatorial years, but local government, local elections almost matter more because this is the level of government that’s closest to the people.”
