The National Weather Service says that the winds will produce a critical wildfire danger in some areas and reduce the relative humidity to 10 percent in some spots.
Temperatures across San Diego County will be 5 to 10 degrees above average on Thanksgiving Day, largely due to a weak-to-moderate Santa Ana wind event that will be strongest in the mountains and valleys, says the National Weather Service.
The winds will begin on Wednesday night and accelerate on Thursday, producing critical wildfire conditions in some areas. Thursday’s daytime highs will range from 71 to 75 degrees at and near the coast, 75 to 81 degrees in the valleys and foothills, 50 to 58 degrees in the mountains, and 75 to 81 degrees in the deserts.Forecasters say the Santa Anas will primarily blow from the east-northeast, gusting to 45 mph in the mountains. Some of the strongest gusts will occur on eastern Interstate 8, near Alpine and Pine Valley. The average monthly temperature at San Diego International Airport, to date, is 59.2 degrees.
