Ticks go for blood in the hardest-to-reach places on the human body, and many are infected with Lyme disease. It's too soon to say how bad ticks will be this year, but some indicators point to a population surge in the early part of the season in the US.
As warm weather sends people outdoors, some are encountering tenacious pests with no respect for social distance.

The illness, which was first identified in Connecticut in the 1970s, is found in countries across the Northern Hemisphere. It's the most common tick-borne disease in both the United States and Europe.And the area where Lyme disease is found is expanding.
For both cats and dogs, as with people, a thorough visual check is also a good way to screen for ticks.
