According to a report, the officer is being investigated for his possible affiliation with a white supremacist organization and has been placed on leave.
"Based upon my review of those concerns, I have decided to place one of our members in an administrative leave status," said Police Chief Robert Contee during the briefing.Contee would neither confirm nor deny whether the allegations were racial in nature.
One reporter questioned how he can claim to be transparent while refusing to divulge any information regarding the officer or the nature of the investigation."Again, I am hopeful that as we progress through this investigation and really get to the bottom of it, all of that information should be very open for the public to review," he said.Contee told reporters that the officer is still being paid by the department while on leave.
D.C. Police Union Chairman Greggory Pemberton did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.
