The driver has been jailed
This is the moment a driver was arrested after driving the wrong way round a roundabout and crashing into a police car.Mohammed Zafar, 21, was at the wheel of an Audi QS5 when officers signalled him to stop. Instead, he sped away from the scene in Blackburn before being spotted again in Nelson .As he tried to evade the police, a chase ensued in which Zafar drove dangerously against the flow of traffic. As he rounded the roundabout, he collided with the police car, injuring the officers.
One suffered neck and back pain and another suffered a broken wrist. A back seat passenger in Zafar's vehicle also suffered a broken arm. Now the driver, of Lammack Road, Blackburn, is beinning a two year prison sentence after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking.
PC Lee Pendlebury of Lancashire Constabulary's Roads Crime Team, said: “This was a dangerous and disgraceful piece of driving which put other road users at grave risk and resulted in two police officers being injured. “The car was driven on the wrong side of the motorway for a considerable distance and collided with the police car when travelling the wrong way on a roundabout.”
