The clip was retweeted by thousands of people on Twitter, including US Women's Soccer captain Megan Rapinoe who added fire emojis, Alyssa Milano who said it "made my day", and Patton Oswalt who could only summarize: "daaaaamn elizabeth".The Democratic presidential hopeful, who grew up in a Republican household and was allied with the party until 1996, was then asked by moderator Chris Cuomo if she ever felt differently about the issue.
"No, I don't think so. I actually don't remember it. I mean, it may have been the case, I don't have notes from when I was a little kid," the 70-year-old replied, adding that what she took away from the church's teachings was acceptance no matter what. Elsewhere in the LGBTQ discussion, a Cuomo gag wasn't quite as well received; as Kamala Harris came to the stage and declared her pronouns were "she/her/hers", the host quipped "mine too"... and it went down like a lead balloon. He later apologized on Twitter.
