WATCH: SarahCWestwood says SenatorSinema leaving the Democratic Party isn't 'huge victory' for GOP
“I don’t think this is really a huge victory for Republicans. If anything it’s just sort of a symbolic minor blow to Democrats,” Westwood said Saturday morning on Fox News’ Cavuto Live.
“While she has taken some sort of notable dissenting positions from Democrats, she still consistently votes with them,” Westwood said, pointing out that like Independent Sens. Bernie Sanders and Angus King, she will likely remain a reliable vote for the Left.Diving into Democrats’ proposed changes to the primary calendar, including moving the first in the nation primary to South Carolina, Westwood said it could be seen as a setup for Biden if he is to seek reelection in 2024.
“I do think that the moves that Biden is making right now and that the loyal DNC is making right now suggest that perhaps he is going to run,” Westwood added. Political strategist Kristal Knight agreed, adding that Sinema will also likely be primaried by another Democratic candidate, which could make it an even more arduous election cycle.
