A Twitter account for U.S. Customs and Border Protection shared, and then deleted, right-wing posts from Stephen Miller, a former Trump administration policy advisor.
The account is the"official Twitter account for U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations in the West Texas region," according to its bio. On Saturday, it retweeted two of Miller's tweets criticizing the media and President Joe Biden's immigration policy and claiming the government has ignored violent crime.
The CBP account's now-deleted retweets were"unauthorized and inappropriate," according to CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus. The account will be deactivated and investigated by the Office of Professional Responsibility, a CBP division that investigates allegations of serious misconduct. "Totally unacceptable and disappointing that any CBP Twitter account was used to [retweet] offensive, unauthorized content," he
