CLEVELAND, Ohio – As the Browns’ season comes to a close, fans have lots of questions. I pulled these from my Facebook page. Many of the questions are about who will/won’t be fired. I’m saving those for the end of the season. Lots of time for that.
In terms of money spent on sports facilities, the venue that makes the most sense is a first-class arena. Cleveland has that with Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Not only does it host the NBA’s Cavaliers and minor league hockey with the Monsters, there are lots of concerts and other events. The No. 2 team? Baltimore. How about No. 3? Philadelphia. Both of those franchises are consistent winners. To say analytics doesn’t work is to ignore that data. I don’t believe every decision the coaching staff makes is done purely on analytics. The problem may be more what you mentioned – a lack of cohesion. Some of that is indeed coaching.They’ve kind of given up on Kareem Hunt this year, at least in regards to running him.
Before drawing any conclusions on Watson, let’s watch him in the final two games. It’s supposed to be about 60 and dry this weekend in Washington, D.C. As for teams spending big money on QBs, they will keep doing it. Not having a QB you like leads to desperation.I have felt that the punishment for acquiring Deshaun Watson needed to be excruciating.
