Newcastle UnitedBut the pair have now sold their shares and left the club entirely – here’s everything we know about their exit.There is no doubt Staveley and Ghodoussi have been key figures in running Newcastle since the PIF takeover and their success over the past three years.A popular figure due to her public-facing role and willingness to meet fans alongside her husband, Staveley has become the most recognisable face of the takeover in many ways.
That was bought by the Reuben Brothers, who also purchased an initial 10 per cent stake in the takeover which then increased to 14.3 per cent. Discussions of a potential Staveley exit were raised in March when she was removed as director of 20 Newcastle-related companies.While she dismissed this at the time as administrative housekeeping, it now appears it was part of a longer-term plan for her exit.
It has now reached a point where the club is able to function without her and Ghodoussi, with her place on the board unlikely to be replaced in the short term.
