The design collective launched in 2022, dubbed “an experiment” by Ecco Leather, the leather tannery and supplier established by Danish comfort-shoe manufacturer Ecco Shoes. At.Kollektive currently showcases the work of Ramsay-Levi, a free agent since leaving her position as creative director at Chloé in 2020, the British designer Bianca Saunders, the Spanish designer Isaac Reina, and the German-Greek designer Kostas Murkudis—though next season, new designers will be appointed.
Will those seasonal changes prove confusing for consumers? Mytaros isn’t worried. “Here, the uniqueness is the freedom given to the designer, and the celebration of leather. There is no creative director saying, ‘This is who we are.’ It’s a permanent evolution. Now, how do you explain this? It’s always difficult. But from a consumer point of view, when a consumer meets a collective, they will find something radical, something different every time. That keeps it interesting.
