Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is thankful for the opportunity Mike Vrabel gave him to get back into coaching.
He said on Thursday, after he stepped away from the Eagles, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel started calling him what seemed like every week for about four months.
Schwartz said he and Vrabel didn’t have much of a relationship with Vrabel beyond touching base once or twice a year. His kids were in school in Nashville and their neighborhoods were nearby, so they’d see Vrabel’s wife, Jen, around and run into each other.Just because Schwartz started his NFL career right around the time Vrabel was graduating from Walsh Jesuit High School in 1993, he was able to learn from Vrabel during their time together.
Thanks to Vrabel extending the opportunity, Schwartz is back on the sideline calling a defense and, through the first two weeks, it’s the, allowing the second-fewest yards per game and points per game behind only Dallas.
