A yellow weather thunderstorm alert has been issued across parts of the UK
The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm warning for Tuesday evening as heavy downpours are set to batter Greater Manchester.
The Met Office also predicts that flooding of homes and businesses could be possible with the potential of damage to buildings and structures from lightning strikes. The yellow weather alert covers the entire Greater Manchester region, as well as other parts of the North West and parts of the East Midlands, West Midlands, Wales, South West England and Yorkshire.
"Many places will miss these, but where they do occur, there is the chance of some localised impacts from heavy rain, as well as damage from lightning strikes. 10-20 mm of rain is possible in an hour or so, with some places potentially seeing 30 mm in a few hours."
