Much more than just a coming-of-age story, it's a stark look at the very specific circumstances of a Jewish family in the 1980s, what they sacrificed to get where they were, and what they are willing to do to keep what they see as a precarious position. With stellar supporting performances from, it's as challenging as any film Gray has made in the past, but with an awards campaign behind it that Focus Features is hoping will help it go far.
