A whistleblower who quit his job at a Nottinghamshire psychiatric hospital says a report detailing allegations of false records and patient harm at Highbury Hospital sounds "very similar" to his own experiences. Health Secretary Victoria Atkins has ordered a review into how Highbury and other Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust facilities dealt with a perpetrator of Nottingham attacks.

A whistleblower who quit his job at a Nottinghamshire psychiatric hospital says a report detailing allegations of false records and patient harm at Highbury Hospital sounds "very similar" to his own experiences. Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said that "more than 30" staff members at Highbury - which had Nottingham attacks perpetrator Valdo Calocane on its books years before he killed three people in June last year - had been suspended as part of an internal investigation.

Now the man, who does not wish to be named, has made allegations about what he believes is a similar scenario at the Priory Hospital in Arnold - despite it not being run by the same trust. He said the issues are indicative of a broken system across NHS mental health care in the county, after it was revealed during the sentencing of Calocane that he had been discharged from mental health facilities on numerous occasions.
