Wednesday, focuses heavily on prevention amid declining numbers of cases, and looks forward to future variants after the Biden administration was criticized for getting caught off-guard by the omicron surge.... [+]The plan prioritizes Covid treatment, testing and booster shots for those with immunocompromised conditions, older adults and other high-risk groups.
The plan would seek to ramp up surveillance efforts to swiftly detect new variants, and the White House said it’s developed a “variant playbook” that will help it respond to new strains, which includes working with vaccine manufacturers and the Food and Drug Administration to develop and approve updated shots.
In an effort to ensure schools and businesses stay open, the federal government will provide “guidance, tests and supplies,” including clear recommendations for improving ventilation.
