Council worker Ashley Dale was 28 years old when she was shot dead in her Old Swan home during the early hours of the morning in August 21, 2022. Ashley died after being shot in the abdomen with a Skorpion sub-machine gun at her house on Leinster Road as part of a plot to kill her boyfriend Lee Harrison. Four men were jailed for a total of 173 years for Ashley's murder.
One of the questions for the jury was whether this feud was something Barry was willing to put to one side, “turn the other cheek” to as lead prosecutor, Paul Greaney, KC, put it, and simply cut ties. Or did his ego, and the risk of being perceived as “weak” in the dangerous underworld he existed in, mean it was a more serious problem? They were helped by Barry’s past.
